GREG FORBES SIEGMAN
LEADERSHIP & TEAMWORK-RELATED EVENTS
BACKGROUND: The book, The First Thirty by Jillip Naysinthe Paxson is based on the strue story of the first thirty years of Greg Forbes Siegman's life. In particular, it looks at the efforts he made to make a difference in the community, his efforts to lead others toward the same goal, the extent to which his experiences in school as an 'emerging leader' influenced that journey, and the first thirty things learned from his setbacks and his successes along the way. Many of those lessons revolve around Leadership and Teamwork.
MORE BACKGROUND: Greg's personal experience in Leadership & Teamwork has taken place at the student and professional level. Examples include: participating on three varsity sports teams in high school, serving as Editor-in-Chief of the high school Literary Magazine, Editor of the high school newspaper, being appointed and elected to positions in Student Government in high school and college, starting a volunteer program in college, and being appointed by the Dean to the position of Student Chairman of Community Service in college. Greg's additional Leadership Experience comes from post-graduate programs which he launched. This includes creating and overseeing BrunchBunch.org -- turning three milkshakes into the nationally-acclaimed mentoring program, in which more than 700 people took part; overseeing a Senior Service Program, in which more than 200 people took part; and founding and overseeing The 11-10-02 Foundation -- turning a rocking chair and some cereal boxes into a nonprofit organization whose volunteers have donated tens of thousands of hours and hundreds of thousands of dollars to help make a difference. Part of the story also reflects on the lessons about leadership and teamork he learned while serving on someone else's team (such as lessons learned while being part of a restaurant staff just after college). The First Thirty and/or its companion workbook, A Place To Sit, is now used by a wide variety of schools, companies and organizations around North America, including a variety of Leadership Programs, and he is invited frequently to speak to such groups as well.
